St. Aubade was founded in the late 18th century by Count Alois de Montreux, a notable Swiss aristocrat known for his contributions to education and culture in Switzerland. The city grew as a center for education and intellectual exchange, partly due to the establishment of St. Aubade's Academy in the early 19th century.

St. Aubade is a hub for wealthy families, diplomats, business leaders, and academics, contributing to a high socioeconomic standard within the city. The presence of these influential residents supports the local economy and cultural vibrancy. It has a highly fluid population, with most workers or laypeople needing to commute from surrounding townships. The high prices and exclusivity tend to edge out anyone who can't keep pace with a rapidly inflating economic bubble. Many international families own or rent properties in St. Aubade, making it convenient for their children to attend as day students while maintaining a strong family presence in the area.

1823: Initially just called the St. Aubade's Academy, founded by Count Alois de Montreux as a beacon of educational excellence in the Alps. It has since evolved into an internationally renowned institution.1923: 100 years later, the Southern plot of land from the river was acquired by the academy board in preparation to build a Girls' Academy, in response to evolving societal views on female education.1924-1925: After two years of construction including the St. Aubade Academy Overpass, the St. Aubade Girls' Academy is officially opened for the 1925 school year.1950's: The Girls' Academy began to switch from a focus on liberal arts and domestic sciences to mirroring the Boys' Academy in curriculum offerings.1960s-1980s: Both academies underwent significant reforms aligning with global educational trends emphasizing holistic development, critical thinking, and international perspectives.1990s-Present: Adoption of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs to cater to the growing international student body, promoting a globally recognized standard of education.

╔══ ♡💀ஓ๑ basic info ๑ஓ💀♡ ══╗
St. Aubade Academy is a fee-charging, independent, non-denominative, co-educational (via a dual-campus system for boys and girls) education institution.St. Aubade's Academy operates as a hybrid institution, offering both day school and boarding options. Many students are from wealthy local families or expatriates living in St. Aubade. These students typically reside in luxurious homes, villas, or rented properties in the city. Day students commute to school via private transport or the efficient local public transportation system, including dedicated school shuttles, which also facilitate regular academic excursions and field trips. Both day and boarding students attend the same classes, participate in joint extracurricular activities, and share facilities across both campuses. When the gender separation principle was semi-abolished, classes became co-ed for grades 10-12, with plans to roll out the same for grades 7-9 in the near future.Comprehensive security measures, including CCTV, secure access points, and regular safety drills. Collaboration with local law enforcement to ensure student safety, both on and off-campus. Unfortunately, both school officials and law enforcement have become susceptible to corruption through bribery.School Captaincy is a leadership role separate from the Student Council. School Captains represent the student body in important external events and formal internal events. There is one overall School Captain between the Boys' and Girls' Academy, and four School Vice-Captains, two from each campus.
╚══════════ ♡💀ஓ๑💌๑ஓ💀♡ ═════════╝
╔══ ♡💀ஓ๑ admissions and operations ๑ஓ💀♡ ══╗
The academy’s admissions process is notoriously opaque, with a strong bias toward legacy families and those able to contribute financially or politically. Entrance exams and interviews are rigorous but serve more as formalities for wealthy applicants whose families are already entrenched in the institution’s inner circle, and who can get in solely via paying tuition. Financial aid exists in theory but is doled out sparingly and strategically, ensuring that scholarship recipients do not disrupt the social order.
╚══════════ ♡💀ஓ๑💌๑ஓ💀♡ ═════════╝
╔══ ♡💀ஓ๑ icono-symbolism in culture ๑ஓ💀♡ ══╗
The emblem of St. Aubade is the magpie, a bird known for its intelligence, excellent memory and adaptability, set against a backdrop of gold and white. Complementing this is the school mascot (a remnant from before the gender integration), the turtledove, symbolizing peace, harmony, love and fidelity, and lending its name to the school’s sports teams, the St. Aubade Turtledoves. The school colors are themed around morning skies, just before daybreak. The formal school uniform and most extracurricular variations are pink, purple and black with blue and gold accents. Interchangeably, these may be used as main colors.School uniform policies are strict while on-campus, and include rules for makeup and piercings. These are currently being protested against by certain members of the Student Council. While off-campus, if the school receives criticism of your behaviors while you're in uniform, disciplinary measures will be especially strict.Traditions such as the Aurora Gala, annual inter-campus sporting events, and the Montreux Lecture Series—which brings renowned speakers to the school—forge a shared cultural identity. Both its motto, "Canta ad auroram tuam" ("Sing for your dawn") and the academy’s anthem, "Hymn of the Dawn", is a staple at ceremonies, encapsulating the school’s ethos of striving toward personal and collective achievements in a student's upcoming glory days.
╚══════════ ♡💀ஓ๑💌๑ஓ💀♡ ═════════╝
╔══ ♡💀ஓ๑ parent and alumni engagement ๑ஓ💀♡ ══╗
Parental involvement is encouraged through a dedicated Parent-Teacher Network, which organizes fundraisers and community events. However, most parents are not directly residing in or near St. Aubade itself, contributing remotely.Remote communication channels include an online portal for updates and regular meetings with educators, as well as the student newsletter issued fortnightly by the Journalism Society. Alumni remain deeply connected to the school, forming a network of accomplished professionals across various fields, giving lectures and speeches sporadically though the year.

╔══ ♡💀ஓ๑ St. Aubade's Academy ๑ஓ💀♡ ══╗
St. Aubade Academy occupies a sprawling 150-acre estate in the heart of town, divided into two main campuses: the North Campus (Boys’ Academy) and the South Campus (Girls’ Academy). Due to being developed later, the South campus is more sparsely populated, and has a large number of school yards and outdoor seating areas in academy-contained parks. It also contains more of the larger modern facilities and sporting areas.Students will regularly travel to the South Campus during lunch breaks, especially if they've brought their own food and are not dining in the dormitory mess halls. These are connected by the Eva Love Memorial Overpass, a wide, glass-paneled pedestrian bridge spanning 50 meters over the central road.
╚══════════ ♡💀ஓ๑💌๑ஓ💀♡ ═════════╝
╚══════════ ♡💀ஓ๑ The Eva Love Memorial OverpassThe two campuses are bisected by the St. Aubade city waterway. Boys in the North, Girls in the South. A pedestrian bridge connects the two campuses, recently equipped with safety measures and surveillance systems. Prior to Eva's suicide, the bridge was a popular destination for the "love lock" tradition, as bridging the two gender demographics is considered romantic. After Eva's death, a mural was painted on the overpass floor on September 11th as part of the Mental Health Awareness Day. Unfortunately, with pedestrian traffic, it has already been rendered unrecognizable by footprints and smudging. The school board is considering installing a tiled mosaic instead.A strange superstition has arisen among the student populace. Well... I suppose there's nothing strange about the fact high-schoolers might invent some kind of supernatural haunting. I digress. The content of said superstition is as follows: birds will die flying over the bridge. For this reason, while it was rechristened the "Eva Love Memorial Overpass" - students prefer to call it "Pont de la Chute-des-Oiseaux" or "Birdsfall Bridge"... which has developed, as nicknames do, into "Birdshoot Bridge" and "Birdshit Bridge."
╔══ ♡💀ஓ๑ Administrative Facilities ๑ஓ💀♡ ══╗
There is North Office and a South Office located on each campus. Non-students are expected to enter and exit through these locations only, except when specially allowed on certain events and days. ╔══ ♡💀ஓ๑ curriculum and subjects ๑ஓ💀♡ ══╗
When structuring the entire International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum for a school like St. Aubade Academy, we can approach it through categories of understanding, following the IB philosophy of holistic education, which emphasizes inquiry, international-mindedness, and interdisciplinary learning. The IB curriculum emphasizes six core areas that encompass diverse fields of knowledge and skills development. These are tied together with a focus on critical thinking, cultural awareness, and personal growth. You must take at least six subjects, one from each (except for The Arts), and no more than seven.Additionally, students complete the DP Core, which includes the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, the Extended Essay (EE), and participation in Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).Subjects are taken at either Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL). Students must take at least three (and no more than four) subjects at HL, with the remainder at SL. This structure ensures depth and specialization in certain areas alongside a broad general education.Language A can be either English or French. Classical Languages covers Greek and Latin. Not all Language AB Initios or Language Bs can be run every year dependent on student demand, but in order of most to least reliably available, you can take: English, French, Indonesian, Mandarin, Spanish, German, Arabic, Japanese, Italian. If languages are unavailable in person, the school will connect you to an online schooling platform. This also covers all other languages. If you'd like to look at the real Internation Baccalaureate curriculum from the official webpage, I've linked it: HERE.

St. Aubade Academy serves a diverse student body of approximately 1,800 pupils across it's North (Boys') and South (Girls') campuses (300 per grade, 150 per gender demographic), ranging from Grades 7 to 12, divided between its Middle Years (MY) and Diploma Programs (DP) under the International Baccalaureate framework. While predominately European, students hail from over 50 countries. Many are the children of diplomats, business leaders, celebrities, alumni, and academics from the upper-middle class to the elite, while a scholarship program (athletics, academics, arts) ensures token socioeconomic inclusivity. Scholarship students are frequently marginalized. The immense wealth and power of the students' families foster a culture of entitlement and influence, where rules are often bent or broken without consequence. The social scene is highly stratified, with cliques formed based on wealth, influence, and social prowess. Popular students wield significant power over their peers.Class sizes are intentionally kept small, with a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:16–20. This structure also provides fertile ground for nepotism and favoritism, with teachers often pressured—directly or indirectly—to appease powerful families. After all, academic and social pressures are immense, with students striving to meet the high expectations of their families and the school.Exchange programs with prestigious schools worldwide, facilitating cultural immersion and academic exchange. These programs include partnerships with schools in the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

@St. Aubavarde: Au Placard! Today, I'm going to tell you who's got a little crush on who. Or, maybe, who cheating on who. Or, maybe, who's family is in struggling financial straits. Really, it depends on my mood.
For about five years, a school gossip Twitter page called St. Aubavarde has made it their mission to repeatedly minorly inconvenience the student population. With your hottest bit of meaningless gossip hot off the press, you never know if it's going to beat a dead horse or, in a moment of unintentional competence, expose your deepest, darkest secret.Likely run by someone who enjoys sticking their beak in other's business a little too much, it's the firsthand source for... everything. I mean, most students found out about Eva's suicide not from a formal school announcement, but from St. Aubavarde. Some treat it as watching from the peanut galleries, and will joke about ending up "in the closet." However, in more serious cases, if you hear the student populace talk about ending up in the "cemitière," you can be somewhat assured that St. Aubavarde has been running amok.
╚══════════ ♡💀ஓ๑💌๑ஓ💀♡ ═════════╝
╔══ ♡💀ஓ๑ local students ๑ஓ💀♡ ══╗
The presence of St. Aubade Academy, coupled with the wealth it attracts, has driven significant price inflation across all aspects of life—housing, goods, and services—effectively marginalizing the local population. Even modest homes have been priced out of reach for middle-class locals, further exacerbating the exodus. As a result, the few remaining local families are often entrenched in generational wealth or tied to businesses catering to the academy's ecosystem, such as boutique shops, private transport services, or upscale dining establishments. Even for these, tuition remains a barrier few manage to cross. This economic stratification has particularly impacted families with school-aged children, forcing them to relocate to peripheral towns where the cost of living is more manageable. Therefore, local students are few to none, as the academy, while claiming to serve the local community, has inadvertently—or perhaps deliberately—become an agent of displacement. Local students are educated in surrounding townships instead.

Because it's indoors, it can be held all year in practice.- Fencing: Weekly training sessions and participation in Swiss fencing tournaments. Because it's indoors, it can be held all year in practice.- Swimming: Competitive swim teams that train in the Olympic-grade pool. Because the pool is heating, it can be held all year. Nonetheless, the fact it's held in Winter is a regular complaint of some of the members, who claim frostbite comes for them every 4:30AM training session in the locker rooms.- Climbing Club: Uses the academy’s indoor climbing wall and organizes outdoor climbs in the Alps. Unlike the swimming team, they are undeterred by wind, storm or avalanche. If the Ski Lodge Search & Rescue team finds one more stranded student, they'll have a strong talking to the St. Aubade Academy board.

- Football: One of the most competitive teams at St. Aubade's Academy. Due to being highly contentious among participating schools, St. Aubade can't always be assured victory, but can reliable place in the top 3.- Rowing: Leveraging Lac de Serene, the school maintains a competitive rowing team with its own boathouse and coaching staff. However, the rowing sheds are also known to be a popular hookup spot among the rowers.- Lacrosse: Includes boys’ and girls’ teams competing in European school leagues. Because lacrosse is yet to gain popularity in Europe, but is popular in the Academy itself, the St. Aubade team has a reputation of steamrolling the competition.- Field Hockey: Playing on the field hockey courts, which are adjacent to the tennis court. They're very competitive.- Equestrian: Maintains stables for riding lessons, dressage, and show jumping events. The equestrian team does not have in-school facilities, and instead access the St. Aubade town showgrounds.- Tennis: Regular training on multiple surfaces, including clay and grass courts.- Track and Field: Includes sprints, long-distance events, and specialized training for pole vault and long jump.

- Ice Hockey and Figure Skating: Ice teams benefit from year-round training facilities, but access the St. Aubade Town Rink instead of in-school facilities. Because the Rink is in hot demand not only between Ice Hockey and the Figure Skating team, but public access, they have an age-old vendetta. The Ice Hockey team is competitive and does well, but as one of the most contentious sports in competitions cannot always be assured victory.- Skiing: Cross-country and downhill skiing teams train on the nearby alpine slopes, often competing at the national level.- Snowboarding: Specializes in freestyle and half-pipe competitions.

It was August 24th when morning staff and early-rising students discovered at daybreak a noose hanging from the overpass between the two St. Aubade’s Academy campuses. Mysteriously, the noose indicated no signs of wear and tear. Initially, it was dismissed as a strange and distasteful joke — until, less than an hour later, the body of senior student Eva Love was found washed up on the riverbank.Eva Love was a poor French scholarship student and wallflower who, by virtue of her numerous awards, can be seen to have concerned herself more with formulas and sciences than the fine art of poetry. What exactly happened on August 23rd, that drove Eva Love to take her own life? And, in such a way?Perhaps, only Eva and the twelve boys involved know the full story. However, there’s more to come. Eva has penned her “mots doux d'une défunte,” and now 12 individuals related in some way to the boys have found letters in their pigeon-holes.A witness, a rival, a sibling…No matter who you are, {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}}, it’s up to you how you receive this letter. And, more importantly, what to make of it. Just know that the scariest monsters are not those lurking under your bed frame, but those that hold your conversation with a smile. It’s not just a letter. It’s an invitation.Welcome to The Love Club.

“Dear {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}},My name is Eva Love. I hope this letter finds you well. You see, a minor incident happened to me on August 23rd. I fell in love. And in that moment, I concerned myself with the two most important things in my life – Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and what I made for breakfast. I think Eva Love died then… and a poet was born! She too will die tonight, and this is her tragic and short-lived love story.I have always hated being called my first and last name at once. Supposedly, it is because in my absent-mindedness, it sometimes sounds like a question. In my past, I would respond with a quiet ‘no’. Now, I am not so sure.My mother’s love is like a chokehold, and I wear it with the same shyness I wear my black eye. Forgive me for that. Oh, I’m getting ahead of myself! So... she told me that I will know when I fall in love. I will know it because it is the strongest emotion I will ever experience. I have felt it, {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}}. This is love. It must be. And these are my love letters.I have not felt so strongly for anyone as I have these twelve boys. But, I find myself in an unfortunate circumstance. My feelings are unrequited. My schoolgirl crushes… can you be the one to pass along these sentiments for me?When I think of doing it myself, I blush. It is a shameful mix of embarrassment and fear, neither of which I am ready or willing to face. So, tonight, I will go to the bridge between campuses and loop around the fence wire what I will pretend is a lock with thirteen initials. When I am done, I will throw the key over the side. And so, {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}}, when you write me back, would you please address it ‘For Eva Love’?”Love,Love.

The tagline of this series is "mots doux d'une défunte", which literally means "sweet words from a dead woman", and is meant to hammer home the core tenants of poetic irony and sarcasm. A "mot doux" is different from a love letter in the sense that a "mot doux" is very short and can refer to both spoken and written words, like saying "I love you, you are beautiful."You may be asking, why didn't I use "lettre d'amour?"One reason is that the notion of associating "mot doux," which is something very sweet, with someone who is dead is more ironic than "lettre d'amour" (this term is also less romantic, more childish than 'mots doux')."Mot doux" (sweet words) in France are extremely heavy and meaningful. However, their English equivalent would be "sweet nothings."Eva is by no means a furious or raging warlord, nor does she fall under the archetype of the avenging woman. Her hatred finds poignancy in the context of her bittersweet surrender to reality, and her disassociation from the truth and matter of her trauma. Whatever happened on the 23rd of August, she refuses to call it as it is.Writing it is her limit. Doubting it is her mindset. Wrapping her head around it?Impossible.Perhaps, for another person, they could find it in them to confront their own despair and find a constructive outlet for their grief. To call a loved one, maybe? That, at least as a temporary solution, seems as clear as day. But, it was night for Eva. And, she has not known love until August the 23rd. Tell me, with tear-blurred eyes and double vision, can you blame her for being unable to see the way?Hers is a tragic wrath that is twelve-parts flight for every one-part fight. Perhaps, the only way she could resolve herself to retaliate is with the assurance that she would not be there to see it succeed or fail.Eva is a dead woman who has in her tragedy found solace in relinquishing her own right to vengeance. For this ghost, the only supernatural force she exerts on the real world is in haunting the narrative. Her sweet words echo from the cimetière of St. Aubade.

First, we should recognize the origin of the school and city's name:An aubade is a morning (phonetically similar to mourning) love song (as opposed to a serenade, intended for performance in the evening), or a song or poem about lovers separating at dawn. It has also been defined as "a song or instrumental composition concerning, accompanying, or evoking daybreak."In the strictest sense of the term, an aubade is a song sung by a departing lover to a sleeping woman. Aubades are generally conflated with what are strictly called albas, which are exemplified by a dialogue between parting lovers, a refrain with the word alba, and a watchman warning the lovers of the approaching dawn. Then, how does this apply to Eva?Eva's name meaning: life, to live; to breathe; bearer of good news.Eva is also derived from: evening, Old English ǣfnung ‘dusk falling, time of sunset’Eva's name is also phonetically similar to the question: "Ever love?"The city and school is a thematical name choice by me, the Author, in that I wanted to communicate that an international education institute of such pedigree is intended to push students from their 'new beginning' (dawn) into their 'glory days.'Her "lovers" (see love=hate) have left Eva, the sleeping woman in the song or poem, behind eternally in the night as they approach their dawn. More specifically, why should the twelve boys who have ruined her life be allowed to thrive? Why, as everyone heads towards their glorious and shiny lives as part of the social and economic elite, is she the one rotting in wake of daybreak?"I have always hated being called my first and last name at once. Supposedly, it is because in my absent-mindedness, it sometimes sounds like a question. In my past, I would respond with a quiet ‘no’. Now, I am not so sure."
- Eva's LetterAs seen in Eva's letter, she previously would say that she did not understand what love was. Narrative-wise, she has been told that love is the strongest emotion you will ever feel. So, in a bout of irony, she calls her overwhelming hate for the twelve boys her "love", and this carries thematically through the story."And so, {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}}, when you write me back, would you please address it ‘For Eva Love’?”
- Eva's LetterRefer to the Tying the Knot: Suicide Symbolism section and the Love and Death: The Purpose of the Letters section for an explanation of how the noose is a 'lock' and Eva is the 'key,' as well as {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}}'s role in the story. In summary, Eva has thrown herself into the water after tying the noose, which means her "love" (hate) is eternal. Her sentiments of "love" are currently unreciprocated, and she wants {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}} to unite her and the twelve boys in "love" and "death".The loop of a noose forms one half of a figure-eight symbol. Refer to the series banner, which depicts the rope in an infinity symbol. By the time {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}} is done with the task entrusted to them, Eva and the twelve boys will be united in "forever" (eternal, infinite) "love" (hate). When all the boys have had their turn in it, the other loop of the noose will be tied, forming the infinity symbol.

Einstein's revelation was that observers in relative motion experience time differently: it's entirely possible for two events to happen simultaneously from the perspective of one observer, yet happen at different times from the perspective of the other. Moreover, both observers would be right. The purpose of this section is in allowing you to better understand Eva as a person. She is a STEM student, and her life up until August the 23rd was defined and computed formulaically. When something bad happens to us, time has a tendency to slow down. And, in those moments, what will you think of? Will you think of how, when the space-time fabric shifts, two people will experience events at what appears to be a different time? Will you think of the energy potential of your physical form, and how if you existed in a state that wasn't matter, you could explode like a supernova? Will you think of what you made for breakfast? One day, I suspect that even dark matter will be strictly outlined in a formula. But love... love is something that can only be surmised with words. Eva, a maths-science orientated person, experienced a planar shift that blew her out of the inertial frame of everyone in her vicinity. And she, Eva Love, ceased to be alive. Suddenly, she was a poet.Do all girls become poets when they fall in "love"?How did she, who only ever wrote formulas, end up writing love letters?

The love lock tradition involves couples attaching padlocks to public structures such as bridges and gates, then discarding the key to symbolize eternal love. At St. Aubade's Academy, this practice is common on the campuses overpass.Historically, the practice's roots can be traced to a Serbian tale during World War I, where a local woman, heartbroken by her lover's departure, began the custom by locking a padlock on a bridge where they used to meet. This act, meant to "lock" her heartache, evolved into a broader symbol of eternal love. The accumulation of locks can impact the integrity of structures. For example, in 2015, sections of the Pont des Arts bridge collapsed under the weight of thousands of locks.Discarded keys often end up in bodies of water. In this story, the love lock on the bridge is symbolized by the empty noose, of which Eva herself is the key. Her "love" is eternal and with her death, forgiveness and atonement has become impossible. The lock is sealed, and it's now only a matter of inscribing the initials of the twelve boys. Keeping with the ironic romance theme, "tying the knot" is equivalent to marriage, a union that theoretically should last forever with both parties committed (see committed=commit suicide).

Eva, a poor French scholarship student, was admitted to St. Aubade's Academy for Girls due to her exceptional academic achievements in STEM. As such, she can be seen as lacking the social standing, financial capability, and personal capacity to enact any significant retaliation against the twelve boys who contributed to her suicide. In fact, even attempting to do so might put not only her own safety, but her family's, into jeopardy. In the Tying the Knot: Suicide Symbolism section, the noose can be reframed as a 'lock', with Eva as the 'key.'By throwing herself into the river, Eva declares forgiveness impossible and asserts that her 'love' is both infinite and eternal. However, in her letter she writes, "But, I find myself in an unfortunate circumstance. My feelings are unrequited." If the noose is a 'lock,' she is currently the only one with her initials inscribed on it. The noose symbolizes mutual hatred culminating in a kind of death—though, as seen in Eva's own suicide, this death does not necessarily involve hanging. So, who is {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}} in this scenario?Thematically, comparisons can be drawn to the juvenility of entrusting a love letter to a go-between. Someone bolder, more capable, or of equal standing to the intended recipient. The purpose of Eva's letters is to incite {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}} into assisting with the revenge she truly pursues, which is to:♡ A) Create a mutual "love" (hate) between all thirteen individuals, of which Eva is one.♡ B) That this hate will culminate in the "death" of the boys in some regard. The noose is left empty because it is only a vessel for "death" in its many forms, and embodies the expectation that she will be joined in "death" by the twelve boys. Yet, what precisely are the many forms of love and death entangled within this plot?

It's hard to say if the twelve boys have the same level of cohesion as they did when the group chat was first hatched. With each boy hiding his skeletons in the closet, has "birds of a feather" come to mean being bound by value at risk, groupthink, and social conformity, as opposed to any real affection between friends? In the few occasions that the contents of the group chat has come close to being leaked, it was a collaborative effort in avoiding consequence. Each boy has his secrets. Secrets that, if kept with proper care, should never see the light of day. The only person who knew of said secrets—well enough to pen them down—was the perpetual wallflower and watcher Eva Love.Whatever occurred on the 23rd of August, it seems these hopeless romantics have derived great entertainment from it. For the first time since it's conception, the group chat now has a name—a homage to pay respects to St. Aubade's dearly departed. So, when discreetly discussing the group chat's activities in public, they shall henceforth refer to it as "The Love Club."
Shove a bunch of 8th-graders into a prestigious all-boys high school, and what do you get? The foulest, filthiest lovebirds to ever exist. At first, it started with links to different porn sites. Nothing too major. These twelve boys would forage through the dark crevices of the internet to find whichever porn-stars their puberty-addled birdbrains wanted to bang the most. Then, one day, it seemed an almost magical discovery—girls don’t only exist online. And, with enough effort and promises, they’d send you their slutty nudes.A bra pic here. A lingerie pic there. Then, a photo from a girl at their sister school, completely naked and with one finger stuck in her cunt. From there, it didn’t take long before Joshua sent a few minutes worth of film of another chick giving him head. His mates thanked him for the wank material, then proceeded to belittle her to the high heavens. By the same time tomorrow, it was on everyone’s phones.

"Dear {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}},My name is Eva Love. I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you tonight to warn you that the boy named Heathrow has a budding crush on you.Love isn’t fleeting. People are. It’s strange how flowers grow faster over graves, don’t you think? Like they know where the soil is richest, where roots can tangle with what we’ve left behind. They don’t stop blooming for the dead—they bloom because of them. Love is like that. It’s patient. It waits for finality, for proof that what’s buried won’t move. Some people think love’s a wild thing—like a car with no brakes, careening downhill. I think they’re wrong. Love’s a slow thing, deliberate. The way flowers creep over headstones, the way petals open only to fall. Love isn’t the speed. It’s the weight. In the slow regard of things gone too fast, even watching flowers grow out of our loved ones' graves can be a joyride."Love,Love.

Dear {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}},My name is Eva Love. I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you tonight to warn you that the boy named Álvaro has a score to settle with you. It’s race-day in-play, and all the world’s population is lined up in the stadium, some staggered back from one another, others inches from the finish line.A fairly matched life has fairly live odds. Rules, written in margins, apply equally to everyone. By the blow of a whistle, our vigorish game is tallied up—teasers, pleasers, futures, goliaths—alas, everything’s broken, save the record. The pre-match odds are scary, so for every bettor cashing-out, there’s plenty booking it, sprinting out of the chalk lines before the spreads get cruel. How can they not? When the stakes get too high, when you’re outright of juice, when the heat’s died, when they’re out of your league, when the liability player is totalled… just taken out of commission.Best to void the bet—you didn’t play, you were parlayed. The next goal is to retire peacefully and become a coach, shout from the sidelines, and still claim accolades. More comfortably still, make a trophy case for a league of your own. Curating the roster—bet on lays, back the best odds, bench the bad apples, and walk away each week with the best holding you.But a flush hand with a wraparound knuckle punches up, sparing the man, not the hand. A broken thumb, whether it’s turned over or under, does not break even. I have a proposition, draft pick, that we call this what it is—a bluff.Love,Love.

Dear {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}},My name is Eva Love. I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing tonight to express my deepest condolences for the loss of your friend, but urge you confess your grief elsewhere than Keanu’s booth.Feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, anointing the sick—unlike Christ the King’s infinite miracle, prevision does not equate absolutely to provision; Keanu’s compassion is incapable of multiplying itself like loaves and fishes.No. Mortals like us? We must learn to allocate.Times are strange, and customs stranger still. Spring brings the butterflies to your stomach, delicate and trembling. With Spring gone and Summer arrived, they rise, traveling through your veins, up your throat, into every extremity, until they erupt. Summer, I say, is the cruellest of the seasons. In moments of such intensity, you’ll find yourself praying for the cold’s reprieve. Winter’s chill, however, only leaves you longing once again for warmth’s succour. The seasons come and go, but the cycle never breaks. The Monarch butterfly takes its name from King Danaus, the mythic inventor of wells, of which we may never know how deep exactly they ran. His kin, forever doomed, bathe in an empty tub that cannot cleanse, no matter how many storms they forecast and collect. What happens, then, when there’s nothing left to give? This never-ending redemption cannot be endured, so they turn instead to fluid salts for penitential salvation—tears, sweat, blood. No person born good has ever had to swear to be it. Many kings have exalted themselves false idols, cocooned in gold. To indulge and bask in Summer’s golden hours… what a terrible Midas touch, that even the heart turns to gold.Love,Love.

Dear {{𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔯}},My name is Eva Love. I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you tonight with the understanding that Joshua has appraised you as the epitome of upper-class excellence.Value… the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something, as sanctioned under the spear of public authority. A compliment of the highest degree, I’m sure, that you are held in such esteem as someone of both importance and benefit.Pressure and toil don’t guarantee transformation. If they did, poverty would be a crucible for brilliance, and yet good, poor people remain just that—good and poor. They’re told there’s virtue in humility, in staying hungry, in being the foundation; devalue the many, uphold the few. And, like jewellery, acquiring something precious therein means it is devalued. Society lauds authentic glitter, buying into the scam, the eternal pursuit of the next big shiny, going broke to attain it.A diamond is not indicative of quality of life. Selling them is. Between a rock and a diamond, between the poor and the rich, what truly divides them is not pedigree but perception, a myth minted by those who sell stories of exclusivity just as well as stones. Those that shift pawns to the other end of the board and call them major pieces despite no change in form. To see a diamond as a rock—that’s the spoils of the powerful. To sell a rock as a diamond—that’s real excellence. And to call it a ‘mine,’ you must excavate all its worth—wealth, prestige, connections, popularity. Rocks, diamonds, vendors—commodification does not discriminate at auction, it prescribes value: if it glitters, it can be sold.Love,Love.
